Not long ago there was a jointed exhibition of 4 Korean Painters at Lee and Lee Gallery in Korean Town ,L.A.

This exhibition has theme of "Quartet" and hastaken big interests and high expectations from Korean and American community from before opening exhibition. The gallery Lee and Lee is most experienced and well known gallery in K.town. The curator and owner, Agnes Lee said that these 4 painters have their-own different natures skills and unique
tastes. However, such differences could deliver a certain strong harmony for viewers and she was so satisfied with this reactions.

4 Painters are Stella Chang, So Yoon Kim, Mi Young Jeon and Go Woon Choi.

Stella Chang - I may say her main works are related to Pop Art Styles on her works, we noticed photographing in various angles and many places. Painter called this kind actions as Mentomori and tried to put her philosophy into her paintings. She majored visual art at LACC and N.Y Stated Univ. I believe she successfully contained anguish and philosophy using her unique colors and images on her paintings.

In So Yoon Kim’s works, I was surprised at her quick and sensitive sights, she described and interpreted successfully on many different natures and unfamiliar feelings which occurred in our daily lives. She studied illustration and modern art at Parsons and Plate Institute and most impressivefeelings regarding her works would be her strong and harsh drawing methods touches in which we can get wide reactions as soon as we face her works.

The works of theme -Lotus, painter Mi Young Jeon described very delicately for shaping of Lotus with crystal. She has studied oriental painting at Wonkwang Univ. for years and was trained well, we can easily see her strong passions and brushing power. I am personally impressed with her challenge in recent work of "Rebirth of Dead Lotus" which painted Ink with Crystal.

At last, painter Go Woon Choi, I fully understood she tried to described imaginations which come from continued of metaphors. On drawings in closed sight of reflected shapes and colors from surface of crumpled aluminum foil, such trial works will take more concentrated interests and show unique attractions. She studied Paintings at Ewha Univ. and learned computer art at AAU.(Academy Art Univ.)

This joint exhibition of 4 painters might be offering more opportunity for approaching and contacting with various objects and artistic experiences.

With different senses on images, characters and divided each one's tastes, however, we could feel a certain harmonized and common ideas from these 4 painters' works which are all laid on themes of daily life and common subjects.

Another reason is that all works are telling intimate stories and common subjects in our world.  With this joint exhibition, it would be one big art event for all Koreans here and would be considered a fresh challenge to American Art-Lovers.
